Job Summary

Sports Coach Vacancy at George Betts Primary Academy. Job Title: Sports Coach, Academy: George Betts Primary Academy, Salary: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (Band E, Points 17 - 24, starting salary £28,158.03), Hours: Full Time - 37.5 M F Term Time Only Plus Training Days (39 weeks) 8.30am to 4.30pm, Contract Type: Permanent, Reporting to: Principal, Start Date: 1st September 2026, Closing Date: 9am Thursday 23rd April 2026 (The closing date may be brought forward depending on the number of applications).

Responsibilities

We are looking for a dynamic, organised and energetic Sports Coach to plan the PE curriculum and deliver PE sessions across the school and extracurricular sports programs. In this role you will not just be teaching lessons - you will shape the entire PE culture of our school. From designing a robust curriculum to cheering from the sidelines of local tournaments, you will be the driving force behind our students' physical well being and competitive spirit.

Required Qualifications
  • HLTA Status: Meet the national HLTA standards or have a Level 4 qualification in education.
  • Academic Foundation: Level 2 (Grade C/4) or above in English and Maths.
  • Minimum Level 2 National Governing Body (NGB) coaching award in at least one sport.
  • First Aid: Valid First Aid at Work or Paediatric First Aid certificate (essential for sports roles).
