Job Description
Speech and Language Therapist Staff Grade 
Tralee, Co. Kerry, Ireland. Full time, Permanent. Contract Type: Permanent Full-Time. Contract Hours: 35 hours per week. Salary Scale: €42,384 - €61,945 pro rata per annum.
Responsibilities- Integrate Speech & Language Therapy skills with current theory and evidence-based knowledge.
- Collaborate skilfully with the service user and, where appropriate, with their parent/carer/family to identify goals, including in complex situations.
- Provide home, early years, afterschool, educational and community services as appropriate to assess and determine the service user's holistic needs in line with policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines of the service.
- Liaise and co operate with other relevant professionals and service providers in the provision of services for children, young people and their families.
- Facilitate a family centred approach.
- Adhere to the principle of informed consent prior to and throughout interventions.
- Facilitate the service user to make informed decisions regarding Speech & Language Therapy interventions.
- Use skilled observations and interviewing, including in complex situations.
- Select, implement and analyse the outcomes of standardised and non standardised assessments.
- Apply clinical reasoning to plan, grade, implement and modify outcome based interventions that are relevant to the child or young person's goals.
- Provide intervention on an individual, group and consultative basis.
- Undertake a key contact role for an identified caseload.
- Coordinate and document Individual Family Service Plans (IFSP) in line with relevant policies and procedures.
- Evaluate and apply outcomes of interventions in collaboration with all stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate and up to date written records and reports regarding service user care, in accordance with professional guidelines and the Enable Ireland information management policy.
- Ensure effective maintenance of client records in line with the Freedom of Information Act, Data Protection Act, Enable Ireland national and local policy guidelines, West Kerry Children's Disability Services procedures and best practice, thereby meeting Duty of Care responsibilities.
- Maintain and update statistical records, including the use of Goldmine software, in a timely manner.
- Adhere to Health & Safety policy and procedures at all times.
- Take personal responsibility for own health and safety and report incidents and potential hazards as necessary.
- Respect the confidentiality of all matters learned in relation to the post, service users, other members of staff and the general public.
- This job description is not exhaustive; other duties may be required by the Children's Disability Network Manager, Children's Services Manager or Kerry Director of Services.
- Registered, or eligible for registration, as a Speech & Language Therapist by the Speech & Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU.
- Have the requisite knowledge and ability, including a high standard of suitability and professional ability, for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
- Provide proof of statutory registration on the Speech & Language Therapist Register maintained by CORU before a contract of employment can be issued.
- Maintain annual registration on the Speech & Language Therapist Register maintained by CORU on appointment.
- Confirm annual registration with CORU to Enable Ireland.
- One year full time post qualification experience working as a Speech and Language Therapist.
- Post graduate Speech and Language Therapy experience working with children with a disability in a community setting.
- Experience working with children and young adults with disabilities and their families.
- Experience of interdisciplinary team working.
- Relevant post graduate training specific to disability.
- Be or be eligible to be a member of the Irish Society of Speech and Language Therapy.
