Specialty Doctor in Psychiatry - Adult Mental Health

This is a replacement postand has arisen because the previous has taken up a post in another service inthe Trust.

Scarborough is a town onthe north-sea coast of Outer Yorkshire, England with a population of just over67.000 people (2019 census). Scarborough is the largest holiday resort on theYorkshire coast.

This post covers the provision of medicalleadership to the Outer area of the Scarborough Community Mental Health Team(SICT), in collaboration with the Teams Consultant Psychiatrist.The job is split into 2.0 sessions of supporting professional activities (SPA) and 8.0 sessions of direct clinical care (DCC).

The Specialty Doctor will be expected to provide key medical leadership to CommunityMentalHealth Team in Scarborough, in collaboration with the ConsultantPsychiatrist. The post holder is notexpected to hold a care coordination role but may be expected work incollaboration with the Consultant Psychiatrist at ensuring specific cohort ofpatients are stabilised on Clozapine and Lithium treatments (estimated caseloadof 20-30 patients).

The community team works under the principles of purposeful andproductive care delivery involving collaborative work. The post holder, as amember of the leadership cell, is expected to provide medical leadership to theOuter section of the community team and enhance the quality-of-careinterventions.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the ConsultantPsychiatrist at ensuring leadership in line with the principles of New Ways ofWorking to the Outer section of the Community Mental Health Team inScarborough.

The post-holders core clinical duties will involve formulation, review and leadership meetings, MHAct related work, andinvolvement in complex care planning meetings.

The post holder is expected to contribute to theeducation and training of medical students, doctors in training and othermembers of staff. In particular, the post-holder will be encouraged to participatein the North Yorkshire and York teaching events.

Qualifications

• MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
• Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
• At least 4 years postgraduate experience, including at least 2 years in a core psychiatry training programme in UK or abroad
• Approved under S12 of MHA OR able to achieve within 6 months of appointment
• In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice
• MRCPsych or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
