Entry Criteria for a Specialty Doctor: remove if not applicable
A doctor appointed to this grade:
shall have full registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council (GMC);

And

  • shall have completed at least four years' full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a less than full time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme or specialty registrar locum appointment for training (LAT);

Or

  • shall have equivalent training, experience or competencies, either in the UK or overseas.

Applications are welcome for the above Permanent, full time (40 hours per week) post based in St John Hospital.

Applications are invited from registered medical practitioners for the post of specialty grade doctor in Oncology at St John's Hospital (SJH). The appointment will be 10 PAs (1 WTE) and will be based at Ward 15 SJH. Consideration will be given to requests for part time working.

This is a new post arising from the requirement to support the exciting rapid expansion of our centre. The post holder will be expected to provide an autonomous service within the Haematology and Oncology Day unit with Consultant and Specialist Doctor support.

The post-holder will have a specialised interest in SACT prescribing for patients with oncological malignancies. They will use clinical assessment skills to assess fitness for SACT and optimise the patients' journey through supportive therapies and symptomatic relief. The post-holder will work very closely with other SJH team members to provide service cover for 52 weeks a year.
