You will provide medical and psychiatric support to the Consultant Psychiatrists working in the service area and in the management of service users. The role will also involve working with other members of the multi-disciplinary team.

You will already have a minimum of 4 years' experience at Core Training level or above, of which a minimum of two years will be in the relevant speciality, hold registration with the General Medical Council with a licence to practice and have/be eligible for approval under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act. Possession of MRCPsych or equivalent is desirable. For those without MRCPsych training towards this will be supported, if desired. This is also a great opportunity for those who are working towards entry onto the Specialist Register via the Portfolio route.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Qualifications:
  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practice at the time of appointment.
  • Completed at least 4 years full time postgraduate training (or equivalent) at least 2 of which will be in a relevant specialty training programme
  • Qualifications:
  • MRC Psych or equivalent
  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management
  • Additional clinical qualifications
  • Approved under S12 or willing to undergoing training
  • In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice
Experience
  • Clinical Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
  • Previous adult experience in a community/inpatient setting
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Academic skills & Lifelong Learning:
  • Participated in continuous professional development
  • Able to present papers at professional meetings
  • Has actively participated in clinical audit and quality improvement programmes
  • Contractual requirements:
  • Able to undertake work in the community and travel to LPT sites
  • Clinical Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
  • Previous experience in Old Age Psychiatry
  • Previous experience of writing psychiatric legal reports
  • Academic skills & Lifelong Learning:
