Job overviewWe are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Specialty Doctor to join our specialist CAMHS team in Milton Keynes as maternity cover on a 1 year fixed term contract. The successful candidate will be passionate about delivering high quality care to young people and will be a highly motivated, energetic individual who joins a forward thinking, innovative service that meets the needs of young people today.
Main duties of the job- Carry out clinical duties associated with the provision of a psychiatric service to young people and adolescents who present with a variety of mental health presentations.
- Take responsibility for assessment, diagnosis, treatment and continuing care planning in conjunction with other team members where appropriate.
- Be an active part of the MDT.
- Liaise with families and others involved with a young person's care.
- Be on call once per week during the day for the LIST team.
- Participate in the regular meetings related to the medical management of cases in the service.
- Develop a special clinical interest with the Consultant agreement.
- When agreed between management and the post holder, provide services for other agencies.
- Carry out all duties under the direction of the respective supervising Consultant.
In Milton Keynes, CNWL is responsible for providing mental health services for children and young people, adults and older adults, and jointly runs the learning disability services with the local authority. Our specialist CAMHS covers the whole area of Milton Keynes with all referrals received into the single point of access in the service.
We have a long history of close working with Milton Keynes Council and Milton Keynes University Hospital to create joint services. Intermediate care, community equipment and learning disability services are integrated across health and social care and are provided through pooled budgets and integrated teams.
- Services are delivered from 25 sites across Milton Keynes and Buckinghamshire, mostly within people's own homes.
- Over 50 different community healthcare services are provided.
- More than 1,000 staff operate across both community and mental health services.

To fulfil the job responsibilities, the post holder must attend and participate in all mandatory and essential training, be conversant with Trust clinical policies and the Mental Health Act 1983, ensure that all incidents are reported in line with trust policy and learn from SUI's and complaints to influence change in clinical practice, safeguard and promote the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, and attend training to a level required for competence.
Person specification Qualifications- Three years experience in psychiatry, of which at least six months experience in child and adolescent psychiatry.
- Eligibility for Section 12 approval.
- Further experience in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
- Experience of managing complex cases in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
- Experience in risk assessment.
- Sound professional judgment.
- Enthusiastic about learning and teaching.
- Understand the concept and principles of Clinical Governance.
- Understand the NHS system, especially in relation to CAMH services, locally and nationally.
- Meet professional health requirements.
- Evidence of teaching experience.
- Willingness to take part in audit.
- Aware of issues affecting current and future NHS practice, especially in relation to CAMH services.
- Approach based on critical enquiry and evidence based medicine.
- Able to set priorities and plan effectively.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration. This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
