Job overview Specialty Doctor for Virtual Ward Full Time, 12 Months Fixed Term 10PAsSpecialty doctor for Virtual Ward of 20 beds, a combination of office based and home visits within Camden. Working in a multidisciplinary team with consultant oversight, daily virtual ward rounds, hours of 9-5, no on call or weekend working but there may be a move to 7 day working possibly within the 12 month period, still 9-5, opportunity to work closely with the acutes (UCLH and RFH) as well as community, supportive and enthusiastic team

Main duties of the jobMorning MDT at 9 am , expected attendance in person at St Pancras followed by office/community based visits between 10-4, clinical assessment of patients and ensuring they remain safe to be at home and/or require escalation/de-escalation from medical oversight. Average length of stay currently circa 5 days on VW but can be shorter/longer based on clinical need. Close working with internal care service as well as adult social care to ensure correct package of care in place where needed. - A wide range of community health services, including adult and child physical care services in Camden, Hillingdon, Milton Keynes and Ealing.
- A comprehensive range of mental health services community and inpatients for adults, children and adolescents from early intervention and psychological therapies to inpatient treatment or long-term rehabilitation care. This includes specialist services for Addictions, Eating Disorders and Learning Disability
- Mental health, addictions and primary health care services in many HM Prisons and Young Offender Institutions in London, Kent, Surrey, Hampshire and Buckinghamshire.
- Sexual and reproductive health services, including walk-in services, in central London and Hillingdon.
We hold grants from the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), and our primary research focus is on characterising acute illness in the context of frailty, specifically delirium and its longitudinal outcomes. However, we are equally flexible in tailoring plans to suit the interests of the successful applicant.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities- Provision of evidence-based care for patients taking senior-level responsibility for day-today care of patients, including daily reviews, liaising with other members of the multidisciplinary team.

- Join the daily consultant led virtual ward round, participate in MDT meetings with emphasison safe clinical decision making taking into account social, physical, mental and communityfactors that may all impact
- Participate in clinical audit and quality improvement. To maintain the clinical and quality
- Standards set out within the service, Trust, regional and national guidelines at all times.
- To ensure excellent and seamless handover of patient care on a daily basis.
- To ensure the keeping of accurate, professional and contemporaneous records.
- Leadership, development and organisation of the service, liaising and communicating withthe Lead Consultant and clinical director
- Take an active part in undergraduate and postgraduate training.
- Continual professional development activities eg. research, education, time working with another speciality or any other area relevant to individual career interests
- To provide cover for colleagues for annual and study leave, when required, so far as is practicable.
- To use the clinical IT systems effectively.
- To complete and maintain the Trust's mandatory training.
- MCRP(UK) or GP equivalent
- Full GMC Registration
- GMC Licence to Practise
- Completed at least four years fulltime postgraduate training (or equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis), at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant medical specialty. Or as a fixed term trust grade in a relevant specialty with equivalent experience and competencies
- A postgraduate or higher degree (Msc, MD, PhD)
- Previous experience of inpatient geriatric medicine and /or frailty unit working and/or experience within admission avoidance or SDEC services managing frailty
- Current ALS certificate
- Involvement in the clinical audit process and an understanding of the aims thereof
- Excellent communication and empathic skills
- Experience of team working
- Good organisational skills
- Enthusiasm and interest in becoming involved with the opportunities Virtual Ward has to offer
