Change Grow Live are looking to recruit a Specialty Doctor for their substance misuse treatment service in York.
The post holders will work under the Consultant Psychiatrist for the service and have responsibility to work with a multi-disciplinary team to provide holistic care for client of both services.
We are committed to supporting flexible working arrangements and will consider applications from candidates seeking part-time hours where these can be accommodated within the needs of the service.

ResponsibilitiesThe post-holders will contribute to the service to ensure that service users consistently receive high quality services that adhere to the best practice guidelines and achieve high professional standards. They will be responsible for contributing to the overall performance of the service to ensure that contractual output targets are achieved. They will be required to record and input client data and information in order that the service operates within contractual, administrative and financial requirements.
The successful candidates will be expected to provide a constant stimulus for improving clinical services and be a role model. They will have a recovery-focussed approach to treatment.
Successful candidates will be able to access a well-developed monthly CPD program, receive regular structured supervision and be fully supported in the appraisal and revalidation structure. All doctors within Change Grow Live receive weekly protected CPD and are encouraged and supported to get involved in clinical audit and research. Applicants for the above role should have experience in addiction medicine.
About the role:
- To provide a clinical assessment, including relevant psychiatric and physical investigation, of a wide range of substance misusers presenting to the service
- To keepaccurateappropriateand up-to-date medical and administrative documentation including computer records
- To liaise closely with other relevant professionals and organisations including non-statutory addiction services, adult psychiatric services, general practitioners, medical colleagues, Social Services and Prison Services
- Initiateappropriate prescribingregimes to clients in line with national legislation/guidance and provide specialist prescribing assessments to opiate, stimulant, tranquilizer, barbiturate, alcohol dependentclients.
- Work with other team members to ensure effective administration in terms of recordkeepingdischarge summaries and correspondence to other relevantbodies.
- Conduct phlebotomy tests ifrequiredand support nursing team in ensuring that the maximum number of service users are tested for BBVs and vaccinated against Hepatitis A and B
- Support nursing team to titrate patients safely on to a treatmentregime.
- Attend multidisciplinary meetings, promoting the nomination of named link workers and actively supporting the implementation of integrated carepathways.
About you:
- Medical Degree and completion of Basic Medical Training andFull GMC UK Registration with License to Practice
- Experience in deliveringevidencebasedtreatments in Substance Misuse
- Good knowledge of addiction psychiatry and legislation relating to Mental Health
- Demonstrable evidence of effective communication skills
- Knowledge of the issues facing substance misusers includingappropriate medicalinterventions, socialcare,and health issues
- Show a capacity to work alone and the ability to keep calm underpressure.
- Proven ability to liaise andmaintaina professional relationship with a diverse range ofpeople.
