Speciality Doctor in Paediatrics

We are looking for a passionate and dynamic Middle Grade Doctor to join our friendly team at Hereford County Hospital. This is a full time (12 sessions/PAs) hospital based post on the senior resident doctor Rota (tier 2/middle grade) to fill one of our specialty doctor posts.The tier 2 staff consists of 1 Paediatric deanery ST trainee and 5 specialty doctor posts. We are looking for a Doctor with a minimum of 12 months NHS experience.
Main duties of the jobThe job entails responsibilities in acute Paediatrics and neonatal ward work, outpatient clinics, assessment and treatment of patients in the Paediatric assessment unit and sharing with consultants the supervision and teaching of resident doctors. The job involved a combination of normal working day shifts, long day and night shifts.
There will be opportunities for in -service training, development of special interests or participation in the CSER Programme. Wye Valley NHS trust believes in investing in our staff to develop local consultants and leaders of the future and have an active education department providing local training. We support SAS doctors by investing in local teaching programs for generic professional capabilities such as human factors, leadership development and quality improvement training. Additionally we offer a consultant supervisor to all our SAS doctors in Paediatrics. The trust has 2 SAS tutors who advocate for this group of doctors and link with the wider SAS network in HEE.

Person Specification Education & Qualifications- Primary Medical Qualification MBChB or equivalent
- Full GMC registration with Licence to Practise
- APLS/EPLS and NLS (or equivalents)
- Level 3 Safeguarding Training
- MRCPCH
- A broad range of paediatric experience
- A minimum of 6 months neonatal intensive care in a level 3 centre
- At least 4 years full-time equivalent post graduate training.
- Ability to fulfil the duties of the post as laid down in the job description.
- Knowledge of when to seek assistance from a senior college
- Minimum of 12 months NHS experience
- Management or leadership experience
- Experience in child safeguarding work
- Experience in teaching
- Experience of working within the NHS
- Can demonstrate an understanding of the principles of Audit
- Evidence of participation in audit
- Involvement in quality improvement project
- Able to demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of the role and importance of research to modern medicine
- Evidence of contribution to a paper
- Evidence of a presentation at departmental/regional/ national meeting
- Competent in the use of IT systems to support patient care.
- Able to act as a team player
- Motivated
- Ability to organise and manage workload priorities
