Specialist Teaching Assistant Level 3 - Resource Provision for Deaf Children and Young People

Job Overview

We are offering two exciting opportunities to join a dedicated team as a Specialist Teaching Assistant working in one of Dudley's Local Authority Enhanced Provisions for children and young people with severe or profound deafness. The 12-place secondary provision is located at The Crestwood School and the 20-place primary provision is located at Ashwood Park Primary. Children and young people are fully included in mainstream education where appropriate while benefiting from tailored teaching sessions and enhanced classroom communication support.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver one-to-one and small-group support to nurture language development, listening skills, and access to the wider curriculum.
  • Use communication approaches, whether oral or SSE/BSL, agreed in partnership with families to suit each child's unique needs.
  • Work closely with NHS audiology, the Cochlear Implant Centre, and parents to ensure every child receives the best listening experience possible.
  • Participate in planning and delivery of tailored teaching sessions and enhanced classroom communication support.
  • Collaborate with Qualified Teachers of Deaf Children and Young People (QTODs) and other Specialist Teaching Assistants.
