SPECIALIST TEACHER (SEND)

We are seeking to appoint a dedicated and experienced Specialist Teacher (SEND) to join our team. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting pupils with additional learning needs, enabling them to access the curriculum confidently and achieve their full potential within our supportive and inclusive community.
Working closely with teaching staff, the Head of Individual Learning (SENCo), pastoral colleagues, families and external professionals, the role involves delivering targeted interventions and personalised support for pupils with a range of learning needs.
This is a part time post, days and hours negotiable.
About the Role.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver high-quality 1:1 and small-group intervention programmes to support pupils with additional learning needs.
- Support pupils in accessing the secondary curriculum across subjects, including English, Mathematics and Science.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff to adapt learning strategies and classroom resources.
- Contribute to and support the annual review process for Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Liaise effectively with external professionals, including educational psychologists, therapists and other specialist services.
- Monitor and evaluate pupil progress, adapting interventions where appropriate.
- Promote inclusive practice and support the school's commitment to meeting the needs of every learner.
- Maintain clear and accurate records and contribute to pupil support documentation.
- Work proactively within the school environment and respond flexibly to the evolving needs of pupils.
- A recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience teaching across the secondary curriculum, including English, Mathematics and Science at Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Proven experience delivering effective 1:1 and small-group interventions for pupils with additional learning needs.
- Experience working collaboratively with multi-agency professionals.
- Experience supporting the EHCP annual review process.
- Dyslexia training.
- A strong understanding of inclusive practice and strategies to support pupils with a range of learning needs.
