Job Description

The Radiopharmacy Department at Barts Health is undergoing an exciting and innovative phase of exponential expansion and development. The Radiopharmacydepartment forms part of the Imaging department which relies on close working relationships between a number of different staff groups including scientists,pharmacy technicians, imaging technologists, physicists and clinicians. We are a MHRA Manufacturer's Specials Licenced Radiopharmacy, who also hold a MIA(IMA) License, supplying key radiopharmaceuticals to Nuclear Medicine &Imaging departments within our Trust and to other hospitals. Our service includes a range of activities from the aseptic preparation of radiopharmaceuticals and blood cell radioisotope labelling for the purposes of diagnostic imaging, batch manufacture, clinical trials, and quality control laboratory activities. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced technician or scientistwith experience in radiopharmaceutical or aseptic production to further develop their career in a world leading center. The successful applicant will be actively involved in Radiopharmacy Production at St Bartholomew's Hospital providing high quality, safe, efficient radiopharmaceuticals manufacturing and maintaining the supply chain to customers.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • MPharm or equivalent
  • Scientific degree with relevant experience may be considered.
  • Registered as a pharmacist with the GPhC
  • Registered as a Clinical Technologist in the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine, or o Registered as Clinical Scientist with the Health Professions Council
  • Specialist postgraduate certificate in Technical Services (e.g. national course Technology and Quality Assurance
Experience
  • Proven experience of good
  • Previous experience of working within aseptics - Radiopharmacy, chemotherapy, TPN, CIVAS or manufacturing
  • Experience in supervising and organising staff and work
  • Evidence of basic teaching and tutoring in a hospital setting through training others e.g. pre registration / basic grade pharmacists.
  • Experience working with clinical trials
  • Radiopharmacy Experience
  • Experience with nuclear medicine
  • Experience setting up clinical trials
  • Releasing officer experience for aseptic products or radiopharmaceuticals.
Knowledge
  • Basic pharmaceutical care needs of patients
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principals and practices of Aseptics/ parenterals e.g. formulation, stability, administration, legal issues
  • Understanding of stock control systems
  • Knowledge of Safe and Secure Handling of Medicines requirements
  • Understanding of the importance of adherence to SOPs and legislation
  • Knowledge/understanding of requirements of IRR17 and local radiation Protection rules.
  • Clinical /Technical knowledge of: - Radiopharmaceuticals - Aseptic Dispensing for NHS patients - Parenteral Therapy
  • Practical knowledge of all aspects of GMP, QA and awareness of current legislation and regulations, including COSHH and Health & Safety at Work Act

  • Able to complete documentation accurately with attention to detail
