Are you a motivated registered Diagnostic Radiographer with an interest in Angiography and working in a Cardiac Cath Lab? Then look no further.
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a friendly multi-disciplinary team working predominantly in our two Philips Cardiac Cath Labs at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals. Previous experience of working in a Cardiac Cath Lab or interventional Radiology department is an advantage but not essential; we are happy to provide training and support to individuals who demonstrate an interest and are keen to develop their skills in this speciality.
This is a full time position of 37.5 hours, with opportunities to rotate into Interventional Radiology.
Main duties of the jobYou will perform a wide variety of radiographic procedures on patients to a high imaging standard and provide excellent patient care within the team. As a Radiographer working in a multidisciplinary team you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with both IRMER and IRR policies. The role is a Band 6 position and you will be responsible for coordinating workload and prioritising patients according to clinical need in association with the other members of the Multidisciplinary team.
As a Band 6 specialist radiographer you should have effective leadership and motivational skills, be an effective communicator, and able to work alone or as part of a team, demonstrate organisational skills, and have the ability to work to a high standard, both technically and in patient care.
You will be a HCPC registered Radiographer. You must hold a BSc in Diagnostic Radiography or DCR and demonstrate a flexible approach to working within the department to meet the needs of the service.
Job responsibilitiesThere are a core group of Specialist Radiographers that support the procedures in the Cardiac Cath Labs alongside cardiologists, nurses and cardio physiologists. The team undertake coronary angiography and pacemaker insertions/interventions ensuring high standards of patient care and experience. The unit has 2 Philips Allura C arms which are due to be replaced in the near future. As the Trust is both a Neuro and Vascular regional centre, you will also have the opportunity to broaden your horizon and rotate into Interventional Radiology suites.
Duties will include, but not be limited to:
- Assist and support the Lead radiographer in the safe, effective management of the area including management of personnel, facilities and the associated systems and processes
- Act as a role model, presenting a positive image of self, team and the organisation
- Be responsible for the delivery and coordination of care, through appropriate professional practice, delegation and supervision of duties carried out by junior staff
- Ensure a high radiographic standard is delivered by self and others based on assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of standards to meet patients' needs in accordance with agreed local and national standards and evidence based guidelines
- Set, monitor and maintain standards of care to improve the patient experience and outcome of care
- Proactively manage risk and maintain patient safety, conforming to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines
- Communicate with patients, relatives and other healthcare workers to ensure appropriate dissemination of complex information, in a form and manner consistent with their level of understanding, culture, background and preferred ways of communicating
- Promote equality in care and practice by recognising, respecting and meeting the needs and choices of individuals
- Ensure environment of care is safe, well equipped and compliant with standards for hygiene and cleanliness
- Participate in education and training of junior staff
- Maintain and develop own professional competence and seek to extend the scope of personal knowledge and skills within scope of role and professional practice
- Comply with the requirements of the Ionising Radiation Regulations and IR (ME) R and related departmental protocols and procedures
- Use information technology systems as required at every level of the role
- DCR/BSc
- HPC registered
- Attendance at study days
- Experience in a wide range of general radiographic and fluoroscopy procedures
- Demonstrates the ability to produce a high standard of work
- Involvement with QA
- Evidence of willingness to expand clinical role
- Evidence of a commitment to reflecting on and learning from previous practice
- Awareness of changes within imaging practice
- Knowledge of clinical governance and its relevance to practice
- Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures
- Experience of Cardiac lab or interventional procedures

£39,959 to £48,117 a year per annum, pro rata
