Specialist Pharmacy Technician - E&T 
Closing date: 24 April 2026
Hours: 9am 7pm, Monday Friday (weekend working 1 in 7 as per rota allocation). Hours can be negotiated with the right applicant.
Job Responsibilities- Lead the training and development of all support staff, ensuring the plans of the lead pharmacist and Principal Pharmacy Technician for professional development are fully implemented and effective.
- Provide dedicated mentorship and support for staff, promoting high standards of performance, attendance, training and appraisal.
- Advise on training, appraisal, registration and CPD for all staff, maintaining up to date records and managing competency assessments.
- Coordinate local workplace visits for potential students and dispensing assistants and plan local induction training for all staff.
- Participate in Trust pharmacy PDCA meetings to advance the education and training agenda and meet workforce and legal requirements.
- Support in Pre registration pharmacy technician & rotational Pharmacy Technician meetings and liaise with regional and national education & training groups.
- Ensure timely communication of training and development issues through notice boards, intranet, newsletters and verbal communication.
- Co ordinate recruitment and selection processes for support staff groups and undertake peer review and re validation of competency where appropriate.
- Perform dispensary activities and cover departmental arrangements for late clinic, weekend, and bank holiday duties.
- Record and manage complaints about the service, ensuring they are dealt with effectively and promptly.
- Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Society.
- BTEC or NVQ Level 3 Pharmacy Qualification, or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences.
- Certification in TAQA (A1 NVQ) assessor qualifications or equivalent.
- Previous experience working as a Medicines Management Technician.
- Previous training experience.
- Evidence of involvement in service improvements.
- Team management experience.
- Experience with appraisals and personal development planning.
- Experience with change management processes.
- Recruitment and selection experience.
- Teaching and coaching skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication.
- Team building and leadership skills.
- Calm, clear thinking and decision making under pressure.
- Familiarity with standard IT software.
- Problem solving ability.
- Logical reasoning and assessment methods.
- Training methodology knowledge.
- Good working knowledge of QCF2/ QCF3 in pharmacy services or equivalent.
- Standard operating procedures for dispensary and wards.
- Experience with patient's own drugs or equivalent schemes.
- Basic understanding of clinical governance.
- Ideas generation.
- Knowledge of the JAC pharmacy system.
- Knowledge of new NHS initiatives.
- Experience with medicines homecare.
- Highly motivated and able to cope under stress.
- Independent and collaborative working ability.

- Ability to accept direction.

Application of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 requires submission for Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
