Specialist Pharmacist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for highly motivated, enthusiastic and dynamic pharmacists to join our team of pharmacists and medicines management technicians across the departments at Friarage Hospital.
This is a challenging and dynamic role that will allow successful applicants to strengthen their clinical knowledge and expertise, whilst also enhancing their consultation and assessment skills. Additionally you will also be able to develop your negotiation, influencing, leadership and management skills. In doing so, you will be required to;
- Act as a positive role model for medicines management and medicines optimisation for pharmacy colleagues and other health care professionals
- Utilise transcribing or prescribing skills effectively to enhance patient care and patient safety
- Continually monitor performance and productivity, developing and piloting new ways of working to improve efficiency and patient outcomes
- Be involved in the preparation of policies and procedures
- Be involved in risk reporting and management
- Provide relevant and up to date education and training to pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals
The pharmacy department at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust will be dedicated to your development, supporting you in your new role with various internal and external educational opportunities available to help you further develop both your clinical and professional skills.
The department hosts over 200 members of staff across both sites and provides a stimulating, friendly, and professionally rewarding environment for staff to develop their clinical expertise and professionalism.
The successful candidate will work full time hours 8.30am-5pm Monday - Friday, and will also be included in extended hours, weekend and on-call rotas, which are currently;
- 2 day weekend working (half days) once every 5 weeks (reimbursed with a weekday off the following week)
- On call duties on a rolling rota basis, approximately 1 in 40

Hospital services are provided from two main sites, the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough and the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton. The James Cook University Hospital is designated as a Major Trauma Centre and as a Tertiary Care centre.

Person Specification Knowledge and Skills- Ability to apply theoretical knowledge to clinical practice
- Knowledge of medicines information resources
- Masters Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent
- Registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent relevant postgraduate clinical qualification (or actively working towards)
- Evidence of CPD and ongoing education
- Pharmacist independent prescribing accreditation (or actively working towards)
- Wealth of experience in clinical pharmacy within a hospital setting
- Experience of providing directorate level pharmacist services e.g. budgetary reports, drug usage reviews
- Developments of protocols and policies
- Experience of developing strong professional relationships with other healthcare professionals
- Experience of leading and contributing to relevant research, audit and service improvement projects
- Experience of involvement in multidisciplinary service development
- Staff leadership and management experience
- Experience in mentorship and training for other staffTeaching experience in clinical and classroom setting
- Effective team work
- Exceptional communication
- Positively respond and adapt to change
- Analytical, judgemental and problem solving
- Role model and leadership (including supervision of staff)
