Job Title: Specialist Dyslexia Teaching Assistant / LSA
Location: Kennington, South London
Start Date: Immediate Start
Contract: Full-time / Long-term
Salary: Competitive - dependent on experience and qualification

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant with a specialist Level 5, Level 6 or Level 7 qualification in Dyslexia/SpLD?

Do you have experience delivering targeted literacy interventions to children and young people with dyslexia and specific learning difficulties?

TeacherActive is recruiting for a highly skilled Specialist Dyslexia Teaching Assistant to work within an education setting in the Kennington area.

This is an excellent opportunity for a TA/LSA with advanced dyslexia training to provide specialist 1:1 and small-group interventions, helping pupils overcome barriers to literacy and access the wider curriculum.

The role will include:

  • Providing specialist support for pupils with Dyslexia and Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD)
  • Delivering structured 1:1 and small-group literacy interventions
  • Supporting reading, spelling, writing and phonological awareness
  • Using multisensory approaches to support individual learning needs
  • Adapting classroom resources and activities for pupils with dyslexia
  • Supporting pupils to develop confidence and independent learning strategies
  • Monitoring, recording and reporting on pupil progress
  • Working closely with teachers, SENDCOs and other SEND professionals
  • Supporting targets identified within EHCPs and individual support plans

The successful candidate must have:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with dyslexia
  • Strong knowledge of specialist literacy interventions
  • Experience delivering individual and small-group support
  • A good understanding of SEND and inclusive education
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • A patient, adaptable and pupil-centred approach
  • Experience working within a specialist SEND setting
  • Experience supporting pupils with additional needs alongside dyslexia
  • Knowledge of EHCPs and individualised intervention programmes
