Specialist Cleaning Assistant

The post holder will contribute to patient care by providing high standards of cleanliness to Huddersfield Pharmacy Specials (HPS). HPS manufactures sterile and non-sterile medicine in a dedicated MHRA approved facility. The post holder will perform specialised cleaning of cGMP manufacturing areas (cleanrooms) as well as warehouse, office and communal area cleaning.
Job Responsibilities- Undertakes cleaning of HPS areas in compliance with local procedures and Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP).
- Performs two garment change activities into specialised full body clean room garments.
- Cleaning of floors, walls, ceilings and glass windows.
- General cleaning daily in general areas: warehousing, office areas, toilets, non classified production areas, plant rooms, external building areas and laboratory testing areas.
- Conducts frequent cleaning activities such as sweeping, mopping, buffing/polishing of floors, vacuum cleaning, damp dusting/polishing of furniture, fixtures, fittings, shelving, interior doors and external doors.
- Transports waste daily from the areas serviced to waste carts and the waste compounds, moving bags up to 25 kg and pushing full cages and carts to the disposal area.
- Performs light to moderate physical effort, including exposure to restrictive garments and occasional intense effort.
- Exposes to unpleasant working conditions such as dirt, dust, smells, noise, water and restrictive protective clothing, and potentially uncontained bodily fluids.
- Uses specialised disinfectant solutions and antibacterial wipes for cleaning manufacturing areas and equipment.
- Assists with training and demonstration of duties to new and existing HPS employees.
- Assists in the completion of corrective and preventative actions arising from quality investigation reports within agreed time frames.
- Participates in the Trust Appraisal Programme.
- Maintains good working relationships with line managers and staff in the areas cleaned.
- Follows Trust policies and HPS SOPs, liaises with Section Heads, prioritises workload, reports damage or faulty equipment, health and safety issues, and quality deviations.
- Complies with Health and Safety and COSHH regulations, and assists with maintenance of specialist cleaning equipment to required standards.
- Maintains appropriate stock levels and records for specialised materials.
- Maintains materials and equipment used in specialised cleaning in a tidy and clean manner, and assists in ordering necessary supplies.
- 3 GCSEs or equivalent at Grade 4 (C) or above, including English language and mathematics.
- NVQ in Cleaning and Maintenance.
- Demonstrated ability to work within set timeframes and procedures.
- Previous cleaning experience, preferably in surgical, pharmaceutical or food processing areas.
- Ability to complete in house training covering Good Manufacturing Practice, specialised cleaning of manufacturing areas, COSHH, Health and Safety, Lifting and Handling, and using a Trust based computer training system.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to understand and follow written procedures.
- Pay meticulous attention to detail.
- Flexibility in working hours.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to communicate well with colleagues.
