University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Band 2 Specialist Cleaner/Assistant Technical Officer (ATO) to support our busy aseptic unit on a 12-month fixed-term contract. The role is open until 07 May 2026.
The Parenteral Services Unit (PSU) of the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre provides cytotoxic chemotherapy treatments and parenteral nutrition to the BHOC, St. Michael's Hospital, and the Bristol Royal Children's Hospital. You will join a dynamic team of pharmacists, technicians, and assistants during an exciting and challenging phase of developing a first class aseptic service.
You will work alongside three other Specialist Cleaner/ATOs to maintain cleanroom standards and support storage room activities. Good communication and interpersonal skills are ideal. You must be motivated, flexible, adaptable, and able to work well in a team.
Previous specialist cleaning experience is not essential; full training will be provided. This role is suitable for school or college leavers and anyone interested in this field. A visit to the department prior to or during the application is highly recommended.
Main duties of the jobUndertaking the specialist cleaning of the cleanroom areas and equipment as defined by departmental standard operating procedures.
Supporting aseptic preparation activities:
- Daily record keeping
- Receipt, transfer, and storage of medicines, consumables and cleaning materials
- Delivery of products to wards
- Stock control
- Maintenance of records
- Experience using computer systems
- Ability to follow written procedures
- Motivated
- Ability to work accurately and efficiently
- Flexible approach
- Good time keeping
- A good standard of English and mathematics
