Location: East Kilbride - 2 to 3 days per week onsite
Clearance: Active DV or SC Clearance required

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Solutions Architect to join a major government programme based in East Kilbride. You will provide strategic architectural leadership across complex technical delivery environments, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, and aligned with organisational goals.

Working closely with senior stakeholders, delivery managers, technical leads and security teams, you will define high-level solution architectures, set and enforce governance frameworks, and act as the final escalation point for key architectural decisions. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in highly secure, multi-disciplinary settings and is confident leading architecture direction across large programmes. Please note, active DV or SC Clearance is mandatory, and the role requires onsite presence two to three days a week in East Kilbride.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, definition and assurance of end-to-end solution architectures across multiple workstreams.
• Provide strategic architectural direction, ensuring solutions meet business needs while complying with security and technical standards.
• Develop and maintain architecture governance frameworks, including decision-making models and assurance processes.
• Create and maintain architecture templates, standards, reusable patterns and reference models.
• Review and approve architectural artefacts, ensuring they are robust, future-proof and aligned with organisational strategy.
• Provide hands-on expertise across solution and technical architecture within Agile, Waterfall or hybrid delivery environments.
• Collaborate with security, infrastructure and engineering teams to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
• Mentor and guide solution architects, promoting best practice and architectural excellence.
• Act as the authoritative escalation point for complex architectural challenges across the programme.
• Oversee technical delivery to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture principles.

Ideal Candidate:

• Active DV or SC Clearance (mandatory).
• Extensive experience operating as a Solution Architect in large-scale, secure or government environments.
• Strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform, including designing and implementing cloud native solutions.
• Indepth understanding of Identity and Access Management (IAM) and secure system design.
• Strong knowledge of software-defined networking, compute, storage and virtualisation technologies.
• Proven ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and drive architectural decision-making.
• Hands-on experience creating and governing architecture standards, patterns and decision frameworks.
• Confident working across mixed delivery methodologies (Agile, Waterfall).
