The Role

We are working with a leading international law firm to recruit a Solicitor to join its specialist Motor Injury & Casualty team in Belfast.

This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a high-performing and collaborative department handling a wide range of insurance litigation matters. The role will suit a solicitor with a solid background in defendant litigation who is keen to develop their career within a supportive and forward-thinking environment.

The team deals with complex and challenging claims on behalf of major insurer and corporate clients, offering exposure to high-quality work and the opportunity to build strong technical and client-facing skills.

About the Position

The successful candidate will take responsibility for managing their own caseload of litigated files, working on matters including motor-related injury claims, casualty disputes, and associated insurance litigation.

You will be involved in all aspects of the claims process, from early investigation through to negotiation, settlement, or trial where required. The role offers significant variety and the chance to work closely with experienced colleagues and industry experts.

This is a hybrid role with a blend of office and remote working.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of litigated motor injury and casualty claims
• Reviewing and assessing liability, quantum, and strategy
• Drafting legal documentation and correspondence
• Instructing and liaising with counsel and expert witnesses
• Advising clients on risk, strategy, and case progression
• Negotiating settlements and conducting advocacy where appropriate
• Ensuring files are progressed efficiently and in line with professional standards
• Working collaboratively within a specialist litigation team

About You

The firm is open to hearing from solicitors with a background in litigation who are looking to progress within a specialist insurance environment.

You are likely to have:

• Experience handling litigated cases within personal injury, motor, casualty, or general insurance disputes
• A practical understanding of civil litigation procedures
• Strong organisational and file management skills
• The ability to work independently while also contributing to a team
• Excellent communication and client relationship abilities
• A proactive and commercially minded approach

Experience dealing with higher-value or more complex claims would be advantageous, but not essential.
