About the Role

A well-established litigation practice is seeking an experienced Solicitor with Medical Negligence expertise to join the team on a fixed-term basis to provide maternity leave cover for up to one year. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated solicitor to manage a varied and high-quality caseload within a busy plaintiff litigation environment. The successful candidate will work closely with senior solicitors and support staff in progressing medical negligence claims from initial instruction through to resolution.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing a caseload of medical negligence matters independently.
• Taking detailed client instructions and advising clients throughout the litigation process.
• Reviewing and analysing medical records and expert reports.
• Drafting pleadings, affidavits, motions, briefs and legal correspondence.
• Liaising with medical experts, counsel and third parties.
• Conducting settlement negotiations where appropriate.
• Preparing cases for Court hearings and trials.
• Attending Court and consultations as required.
• Ensuring compliance with all regulatory and professional obligations.

Candidate Requirements

• Qualified Solicitor with a current practising certificate in Ireland.
• Demonstrable experience handling Medical Negligence cases.
• Strong knowledge of Irish litigation procedures.
• Excellent drafting, advocacy and case management skills.
• Ability to manage files autonomously while working collaboratively within a team.
• Strong communication and client care abilities.
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
• Desirable Experience in plaintiff litigation.
• Familiarity with High Court personal injuries and medical negligence proceedings.
• Ability to manage a busy caseload efficiently and meet deadlines.
