As a Software Tester Apprentice, you'll have the chance to play a pivotal role in the development and deployment of cutting edge software solutions. You'll work alongside our seasoned team of testing experts, learning to hone your skills in manual and automated testing, defect management, and risk mitigation. You'll also cultivate critical communication and collaboration skills, serving as a bridge between development teams, business stakeholders and end users. You'll learn to translate complex technical information into actionable insights, effectively reporting on test progress while driving continuous improvement.
Key job responsibilities- Develop an understanding of the software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis to deployment
- Analyse software and systems to proactively identify and mitigate potential risk and issues
- Participate in the quality assurance stage of software development and deployment process
- Conduct both manual and automated tests to ensure the software created by developers is fit for purpose and free from any bugs before it reaches end users
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to log defects, provide regular updates, and drive continuous improvement
Throughout your apprenticeship, you'll develop a deep understanding of the software development lifecycle, mastering techniques to analyse requirements, design comprehensive test plans, and execute a diverse array of test scenarios. Whether you're conducting functional, non functional, or change related testing, you'll approach each challenge with meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to ensuring the highest levels of software quality. You will gain a vast range of useful experiences and skills whilst working toward the Level 4 Software Tester apprenticeship. As a working student your focus is to complete your studies in your 20% off the job time by learning and developing skills, knowledge and behaviours to work toward successful graduation. You will be set goals by your training provider and manager to support your studies. As part of your off the job learning you may travel to a training centre; this location may differ from your primary work base. Candidates should be prepared for occasional travel as part of the apprenticeship programme.
You will build your skills over a 24 month period, starting in September. These skills will help you develop personally and professionally. Your apprenticeship will include classroom/virtual based training covering knowledge, on the job training at your Amazon base location, online learning and mentoring from our experienced team members.
Basic Qualifications- Be 18 years or over before the start date (September 2026)
- Have the right to live and work in England (if you are on a visa, this must enable you to legally work and reside in England for the entire duration of the program)
- Have lived in the UK or in the European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 years
- Be a resident of the UK for the entire duration of the program
- Not be registered to study on a UK government funded course ending August 2026 or later
- Have at least 5 GCSEs at grade 4 9 (A C) or above (or equivalent) including Maths and English
- Have an A Level in a STEM subject, or BTEC Diploma in a STEM subject, or Level 3 IT apprenticeship
- Provide a Statement of Comparability for qualifications earned outside the UK (via UK ENIC : )
- Note: This position is a 24 month fixed term contract. You must not already have a qualification in a similar subject at the same or higher level than this apprenticeship
