Software Engineer

Job title: Software Engineer - Node.js/AWS/Kafka

Contract: Initial 3-6 months + extension

Day Rate: Up to £350 per day inside IR35

Location: Remote/Hybrid - TBC

Clearance: BPSS/SC Eligible

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join a multidisciplinary Agile delivery team, working on the development and enhancement of modern, cloud-based services and APIs.

The successful candidate will have strong Back End development experience using Node.js, with hands-on exposure to AWS, Kafka and RESTful API development.

Key Skills & Experience:

• Strong commercial experience with Node.js, particularly Express
• Design, development and integration of REST APIs
• Hands-on experience with Redis
• Strong experience with Kafka, specifically integrating and interacting with Kafka using Node.js
• Good working knowledge of AWS cloud services
• Experience using GitLab for source control and CI/CD workflows
• Experience working within Agile, multidisciplinary delivery teams
• Comfortable working with Jira and Confluence
• Strong understanding of modern software engineering practices, testing and maintainable code

Desirable Experience:

• Previous experience delivering software within UK Government or wider public-sector environments
• Experience working on large-scale, highly available digital services
• Knowledge of CASA or similar application/service architectures would be advantageous
