As an Embedded Software & Firmware Engineer, you'll be hands-on with cutting-edge Embedded solutions that prioritise both performance and sustainability. Designing systems that reduce environmental impact through energy-efficient operation.
This is a hybrid role, requiring a minimum of 4 days per week on-site at the South Wales office.
What You'll Be Doing- Designing and implementing Embedded software and firmware for microcontrollers and programmable logic devices
- Developing low-level drivers, communication protocols, and Real Time control logic
- Writing efficient, maintainable code in C/C++
- Contributing to system architecture, requirements definition, and hardware integration
- Debugging and resolving firmware issues across development and production
- Supporting secure firmware update mechanisms and bootloaders
- Participating in verification and validation activities, including unit and system testing
- Maintaining clear technical documentation throughout the development life cycle
- Collaborating closely with hardware, systems, and QA teams
What We're Looking For
- A degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or a related field
- Solid experience in Embedded software/firmware development
- Proficiency in C/C++ and experience with Real Time or bare-metal systems
- Strong understanding of microcontrollers and digital communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN)
- Confidence using lab tools such as oscilloscopes and logic analysers
- Familiarity with version control systems (eg, Git) and Agile development practices
- Experience with safety-critical or high-integrity systems (eg, aerospace, automotive)
- Exposure to FPGA development or low-level hardware programming
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
