We are seeking a skilled and experienced Software Engineer with expertise in .Net and VBA to join our Calculations and Illustrations Team. As a Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in providing technical expertise to help our teams design, develop, test, and implement efficient solutions that meet business and customer requirements.

The successful candidate will have a real impact on how Royal London develops our applications and will provide a blend of both solid leadership experience and technical expertise.

You will be given the opportunity to grow your career within a team focused on promoting internal career progression. This role is centered on our exciting new Pensions Application stack and contributes to our purpose of strengthening mutual choice for our customers by providing the best technology solutions.

About the role

  • Develop solutions within your area of technical expertise.
  • Assess the impact of simple changes to existing applications.
  • Contribute to solution design work.
  • Write code that meets Group standards, guidelines, and quality gates for the given technology.
  • Thoroughly test all changes to identify issues early.
  • Support the safe implementation of solutions into production environments.
  • Collaborate closely with team members.
  • Share ideas and experience to improve software development practices.

About you

  • Enterprise development experience with .Net and VBA is essential.
  • Pensions and Actuarial knowledge is desirable.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong team collaboration skills.
  • Good understanding of the full software development lifecycle.
  • Awareness of agile development practices.
  • Familiarity with automated testing techniques and frameworks.
