Job Description

Are you a passionate Veterinary Surgeon looking to take the next step in your career? At my clients practice in Nottinghamshire they are seeking a dedicated professional who is excited to make a genuine difference in the lives of pets and their owners. This is your chance to join a supportive, close-knit team where your expertise will be recognised, your growth encouraged, and your contributions truly valued.
This stand-alone practice is located in the thriving Nottinghamshire Ashfield area, an area that combines professional opportunity with a high quality of life. With excellent transport connections to Nottingham and beyond, 7 miles north of Nottingham, offers the convenience of city access while maintaining a relaxed, suburban charm. It's a town full of personality, with independent shops, inviting cafés, and welcoming pubs, all nestled alongside beautiful green spaces like Titchfield Park. The area boasts good schools, affordable housing, and a steadily growing economy, making it a great place to put down roots.
This team are proud of the friendly and collaborative working environment, made up of three experienced vets, four skilled nurses, and four supportive receptionists. They foster a culture where everyone works together and looks out for one another, and all enjoy getting together for the occasional social evening too. Team spirit and mutual respect define the day-to-day environment.
They are looking for a qualified Veterinary Surgeon with current RCVS registration and strong experience in small animal practice. You should feel confident both in consultation and surgery and be comfortable working independently when needed. A strong understanding of UK first opinion practice is essential, and if you have a particular interest in surgery or hold a surgical certificate, they'd be delighted to support that further. For the right individual, there may even be the opportunity to move into a Lead Vet role in the near future. Ideally, they are seeking someone to join full-time, but are happy to discuss part-time or flexible working options to suit your needs. The weekend rota involves working one in three or one in four weekends, with time off in lieu.
In return, they will offer a competitive salary of up to £65,000, depending on your experience and working hours. You'll benefit from a generous CPD allowance with additional funding available for certificates. Holiday entitlement begins at 5.6 weeks and increases to 6.6 weeks after two years of service, and you'll also receive an extra day off to celebrate your birthday. They provide enhanced parental leave, private health insurance, and a contributory pension scheme. All professional fees, including RCVS, BVA, and VDS memberships, are fully covered. You'll have access to in-house career progression opportunities, and for those relocating or requiring sponsorship, they offer visa support and potential relocation assistance. The team also benefits from a wellbeing-focused reward hub and participation in the Cycle to Work scheme.
If you're ready to join a team where you'll be supported, appreciated, and inspired to grow, we would love to hear from you.
