Job overview Hello our names are Jessica Wolstenholme and Amelia Conway and we are the ward 8 managers. As a ward we are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, experienced and a motivated paediatric nurse who is passionate about delivering high quality care to the children of Preston and surrounding area.
There has been an investment within the area of which has resulted in us aspiring to have two band 6 sister / charge nurse's on every shift.
We want all our young patients and their families to have a positive experience whilst at our Trust and are looking for some very special staff to join our team. Superpowers include ability to prioritise, resilience, communication, working as part of a team and independently, time management skills, a willingness to develop and also the ability to maintain high professional standards with an element of fun.
Full and Part Time hours available.
Please note: Appropriate UK NMC Registration is a requirement for this role and international candidates who only holds PRN need not to apply.
Main duties of the job As a band 6 on paediatrics, Ward 8, you will be responsible for the day to day coordination of the unit and will work closely with the ward manager. The role is both a clinical role and a leadership role and as such you will be responsible for staff appraisals, the completion of the off duty in line with Trust policy, liaising with the clinical educator regards training, managing sickness and absence and performance management.

Working with others we have close links with the Paediatric Assessment Unit, children's outpatients department and paediatric community service. Our ward based team is multi-disciplinary including physios, pharmacist, play specialists, patient experience coordinator and CAMHS team.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities To ensure the day-to-day efficient running of the paediatric ward , providing strong leadership, monitoring and maintaining standards of care and professional practice.
Be responsible for ensuring the planning , delivery, and evaluation of care to meet the personalised health and wellbeing care needs of patients, in line with the Trust's values and Nursing and Midwifery Professional Framework.
Ensure effective management of the area including management of personnel, facilities, and associated systems and processes. ️
Act as a role model, presenting a positive image of self, team, and the organisation.
Be responsible for the delivery and coordination of care, through appropriate professional practice.
Ensure a high standard of nursing is delivered by self and others based on assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care to meet patient's needs in accordance with agreed local and National standards and evidence-based guidelines.
Set, monitor, and maintain standards of care to improve the patient experience and outcome of care.
Proactively manage risk and maintain patient safety ️, conforming to health, safety, and security legislation, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Promote provision of patient education and health promotion.
Communicate all relevant information to the multidisciplinary team internally and with external organisations as required, to ensure seamless care. ️
Maintain and develop own professional competence and seek to extend the scope of personal knowledge and skills within scope of role and professional practice.

- RN8 or RNC Children's Nursing Posts
- NMC recognised Mentorship qualification
- Evidence of continuing education or development
