SIPP Technical Lead

As the SIPP Technical Lead, you are responsible for ensuring the technical integrity, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence of Upvest's SIPP proposition.
You will act as the primary authority on UK pension legislation, bridging the gap between complex regulatory requirements, our operational processes, and a scalable investment API.
Working closely with Product, Engineering, Compliance, and Operations teams, you will keep our SIPP infrastructure robust, compliant, and market leading, enabling Upvest to scale to millions of end users while maintaining the highest levels of integrity and trust.
What you'll do:- Lead regulatory oversight: Stay abreast of developments from the FCA, DWP, and HMRC, assessing their impact on Upvest's SIPP offerings.
- Solve complex technical queries: Act as the escalation point for technical referrals from our clients, ensuring clear resolution of complex pension cases.
- Drive product compliance: Work with internal stakeholders to analyze legislative changes, especially regarding the Pensions Dashboard, and support the implementation of required updates to procedures and training notes.
- Enhance governance: Identify emerging risks within the SIPP market and support the delivery of strong governance solutions to mitigate poor customer outcomes.
- Coach and develop: Deliver technical training to staff, proactively contributing to the development of training materials to raise pension IQ across the organization.
- Manage external relationships: Serve as a key technical point of contact for external partners and professional financial advice firms when required. Represent Upvest at industry events.
- Deep Pension Expertise: Thorough knowledge of HMRC and FCA rules as they apply specifically to SIPPs and the wider UK pensions market.
- Regulatory Analysis Skills: Proven experience in analysing legislative changes and translating them into clear, actionable operational procedures.
- Technical Problem Solving: Experience handling complex SIPP technical issues and resolving technical queries in a fast paced environment.
- Stakeholder Management: Strong communication of technical requirements to internal and external stakeholders, including engineering and product teams.
- Self Starter Mentality: Highly organized approach with the ability to work independently, prioritize appropriately, and thrive under pressure.
- Qualifications (Desirable): Relevant industry certifications such as DipPFS, APMI, or equivalent professional pension qualifications.
