Shop Manager

61 Church St, Garstang, Preston PR3 1YA

37.5 hours per week, including weekends on rotation

£25,302.39 pa plus reward and benefit scheme

Sue Ryder is one of the UK's largest charity retailers, operating over 400 shops that generate funds for medical, practical, bereavement and emotional support services. The Garstang shop is a two story retail space that sells fashion, bric a brac, toys, books and soft furnishings.

About you

Are you an experienced, proactive shop manager with strong retail skills and the ability to lead volunteers? If so, join us in Garstang and contribute to the wider Sue Ryder mission.

To be successful you will have:

  • Commercial awareness to achieve sales targets and meet deadlines
  • Team leadership skills, able to lead a large volunteer team
  • Positive, can do attitude and strong customer service focus
  • Understanding of financial and IT administration
Other responsibilities include:
  • Drive business, push sales and achieve targets using retail experience
  • Lead your team to deliver excellent customer service to donors and customers
  • Work with the local community to generate donated stock
  • Recruit, train and retain a volunteer team
  • Set high standards of merchandising and housekeeping; ensure health and safety is prioritised
  • Manage effective stock processes, maintaining a well merchandised shop with fresh, seasonal stock
  • Act as a brand ambassador for Sue Ryder, supporting in store campaigns and national fundraising initiatives
  • Operate the E POS system and manage stock processes through it
Minimum Essential Criteria
  • Customer service experience
  • People management experience (reviews, 1:1s, volunteer recruitment, team meetings)
  • Experience achieving KPI and targets
  • Strong IT skills (admin, email, instant messaging, video calls)
  • Organisational skills
  • Lone working experience
Desirable Criteria
  • High street retail or charity retail managerial experience
  • Health and safety knowledge
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills or equivalent
  • Background in high street retail, leisure or hospitality
  • Experience with merchandising and stock rotation

The shop is two storey with an upper shop floor. It is an old building with tight space and limited wheelchair accessibility. The sort room is on the upper floor.
