An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Settlements Team Lead to join a thriving financial services organisation. This role offers you the chance to oversee and nurture a dedicated UK-based team while collaborating closely with colleagues globally. You will drive process improvements, support operational excellence, and act as the key escalation point for your team. FX industry experience is highly desirable.
What you'll doAs Settlements Team Lead, you will guide your team through daily operations while ensuring that every aspect of the settlements process runs smoothly. Your responsibilities will span from overseeing reconciliations to managing liquidity movements between accounts, with a focus on accuracy and compliance. You will work with colleagues around the globe to harmonise processes, share best practices, and deliver consistent results. By supporting your team's development and acting as their main point of contact for escalations, you will foster a culture of trust and collaboration. You will identify optimisation opportunities and contribute to ongoing process improvements alongside senior leadership. Your attention to detail, organisational skills, and teamwork will drive operational excellence in a dynamic environment.
- Provide daily oversight and nurturing leadership for the UK Settlements team, ensuring workloads are prioritised effectively.
- Act as the primary escalation point for team members, offering guidance and resolving complex issues promptly and empathetically.
- Oversee all settlement activities to guarantee accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to established controls.
- Collaborate with settlement teams in Dubai and Canada to maintain global process consistency and provide cover when needed.
- Support the Head of Settlement in aligning regional practices by implementing global standard operating procedures.
- Ensure net settlement figures are accurate by comparing them with expected calculations and highlighting discrepancies with liquidity providers as they arise.
- Supervise analysis of outstanding trade positions, identifying anomalies early and resolving them before net settlement deadlines.
- Approve and monitor liquidity movements between settlement and safeguarding accounts, ensuring sufficient funds are available.
- Review onward payments for compliance with approval protocols, releasing funds only after thorough checks.
- Monitor margin calls and exposure levels, escalating risks in a timely manner to protect clients and the business.
- Excellent communication skills that enable you to explain complex issues simply and build rapport across diverse teams.
- Experience managing or mentoring others in a financial operations or settlements environment with a supportive approach.
- Strong technical background in settlements processes including reconciliations, liquidity management, margin monitoring, and payment approvals.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel with strong numerical ability and an analytical approach to problem solving. > Ensure accuracy.
- FX (foreign exchange) settlements experience is highly desirable.
