Job Description

Service Owner - Roadmaps - Planning - Risk Management - Government - SC Clearance - 12 month contract

I have an immediate opportunity for an experienced Service Owner with background supporting public sector/government clients. You will be joining a busy programme and work closely with product, delivery, operations and design colleagues to refine how their service operates and make sure it keeps meeting user and stakeholder needs.

Due to the nature of the client and role, candidates will ideally be British Nationals and hold active SC clearance.

Key responsibilities

  • Own and maintain service definitions, roadmaps and the Service Backlog, updating them as the service and its dependencies change.
  • Manage the service risk register, making sure it accurately reflects current risks and mitigation plans.
  • Chair the monthly Service Planning Meeting to review performance, approve roadmap changes, prioritise improvements and coordinate readiness for live service.
  • Track incidents and problems affecting your service, working with the Incident and Problem Management team to understand impact, drive resolution and feed learning into service improvements.
  • Work with Service Designers to refine service blueprints, processes, support documentation and ways of working so colleagues and users can navigate the service easily.
  • Oversee suppliers and managed service providers that support your service, building strong relationships and holding them to account for performance, value and adherence to service?level expectations and agreements.

What we're looking for

  • Experience developing an agile business case and keeping it updated through the life cycle, including shaping and tracking benefits.
  • Background working across multiple stages of a service or product life cycle and judging when to progress or stop.
  • Ability to identify the right deliverables and people at each stage and work effectively with other agile delivery operations.
  • Strong operational management skills, including improving ways of working and acting as an escalation point for major operational issues.
  • Experience working closely with incident and problem management and leaders of operational delivery teams within digital, data and technology environments.
  • Proven supplier and relationship management skills, including managing and overseeing suppliers and managed service providers for performance and value.
  • Strong problem ownership skills: anticipate issues, understand how they fit into the wider picture and help others articulate and solve them.
  • Ability to set a long-term vision and objectives for a service, focus on what matters most and develop the capability of others.
  • Deep user focus, including choosing appropriate tools and methods, meeting user needs across channels and adapting services as user needs evolve.
