We support them in making a meaningful difference to the people and communities they serve - our clients include some of the biggest brands in the UK and worldwide. For you, it means more to make an impact that matters, through challenging projects which demand ambitious innovation and thought leadership.
The Role :
We're seeking a senior architect with deep, demonstrable ServiceNow architecture experience to provide end-to-end design authority for a global, enterprise-scale platform. This role will shape the target architecture for a new global instance and the delivery of new ServiceNow products and services, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, supportable, upgradeable, and aligned with business outcomes, enterprise architecture standards, and platform leading practices.
Key responsibilities:
- The Senior SMP Solution Architect will serve as the architecture and design authority for assigned initiatives, working across business, product, enterprise architecture, security, data, integration, and engineering teams. Responsibilities include:
- Own end-to-end solution architecture from discovery and option analysis through design, build, testing, deployment, and transition to operations.
- Translate complex business and technical requirements into clear architecture blueprints, solution designs, data models, integration designs, technical specifications, and architecture decision records.
- Define and govern platform architecture principles, reusable patterns, development standards, security controls, and technical guardrails across ServiceNow products and shared platform capabilities.
- Design solutions that use ServiceNow baseline capabilities and proven patterns, challenge unnecessary customization, identify technical debt, and protect platform maintainability and upgradeability.
- Architect secure, resilient, and supportable integrations using appropriate platform capabilities and enterprise patterns, including APIs, IntegrationHub, MID Servers, identity and access controls, and data exchange mechanisms.
- Provide architecture leadership for ServiceNow data and service models, including CMDB and CSDM alignment, application and service relationships, data ownership, reconciliation, quality, lifecycle, and governance.
- Lead architecture workshops and technical design reviews; assess solution options, document trade-offs and risks, and secure alignment from business and technology stakeholders.
- Review and approve detailed designs and critical configurations, provide direction to developers and implementation partners, and verify that delivered solutions conform to the approved architecture.
- Address non-functional requirements, including performance, availability, scalability, security, privacy, compliance, operability, observability, disaster recovery, and supportability.
- Maintain current-state and target-state platform architecture documentation and support release, upgrade, environment, testing, and operational-readiness planning.
- Act as a trusted ServiceNow architecture advisor, communicate complex technical decisions clearly to senior stakeholders, and mentor architects, developers, product teams, and delivery partners.
Technical Requirements:
- Extensive experience architecting and delivering complex, enterprise-scale ServiceNow solutions, with a strong track record as a ServiceNow Solution Architect, Technical Architect, or Platform Architect.
- Deep knowledge of ServiceNow platform architecture, configuration and customization boundaries, scoped applications, data model, security model, integration patterns, release management, and upgrade considerations.
- Demonstrated ability to create and defend architecture blueprints, solution designs, roadmaps, governance standards, and technical decisions for senior business and technology audiences.
- Strong expertise across one or more ServiceNow product areas, together with the ability to design cross-product solutions using shared platform services.
- Strong understanding of CMDB, CSDM, service modelling, data governance, integrations, identity and access, platform security, performance, and operational support considerations.
- Proven experience leading architecture and design reviews, resolving complex technical issues, managing architectural risk, and guiding development teams and implementation partners.
Preferred Skills:
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator and relevant Certified Implementation Specialist credentials required; Certified Application Developer preferred. Certified Technical Architect or Certified Master Architect is a strong asset.
- Experience with enterprise architecture, ITIL practices, software delivery life cycle, Agile delivery, testing, release management, and production transition.
- Excellent facilitation, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to explain architectural trade-offs and influence decisions at all organizational levels.
Personal Qualities:
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication skills.
- Team-oriented mindset.
- Dedication to continuous learning.
