Rate: Circa £450/day (Inside IR35)
Location: Remote (UK-based only)

Contract Length: 3 - 6 months initially
Clearance Required: Active SC clearance
Sector Experience Required: Must have recent HMRC project experience

We're supporting a consultancy partner on a major HMRC-aligned public sector programme and are looking for an experienced Service Designer to join the team.

This role is Embedded in a multi-disciplinary agile team delivering to GDS standards.

Key responsibilities:

• Leading service design activities across the full life cycle
• Mapping user journeys, identifying pain points, and improving end-to-end experiences
• Facilitating workshops and stakeholder engagement to ensure services meet user needs
• Collaborating with researchers, content designers, interaction designers, and product teams
• Producing artefacts such as service blueprints, journey maps, and prototypes
• Supporting service assessments and aligning with GDS service standard requirements

Skills & experience required:

• Active SC Clearance
• Strong public sector digital experience, particularly within HMRC
• Deep understanding of service design principles in government
• Experience delivering within agile teams
• Ability to confidently engage stakeholders and contribute to strategic direction
