Service and Operations Engineer - Ilha de Santa Maria (Açores)

The Service and Operations Engineer at the Santa Maria Teleport is responsible for assisting with all parts of the Teleport projects lifecycles, with a strong focus on the on-site activities, including hands-on tasks with Teleport infrastructures. Principal Tasks:

• Supporting Contract and Project Management activities, providing feedback and inputs as necessary;
• Definition, implementation, and reporting of specific project and Teleport KPIs, directly liaising with the Project Manager(s) to fulfill customer and internal reporting requirements;
• Assisting the Service Delivery Manager and Project Manager in the production of documentation for the Santa Maria Teleport projects;
• Active participation in the continuous improvement processes, providing recommendations and prototypes of new features and/or products;
• Inventory management, including monitoring of stock levels and ordering of materials as required by Teleport activities;
• Operations and Development of the Near-Real Time Earth Observation services using satellite data;
• Maintenance & Operations for Teleport infrastructures, including preventive maintenance and incident response;
• Installation of equipment at the Teleport;
• Launcher tracking operations.

Required skills:

• Have completed a University degree in a relevant engineering field (e.g. Telecommunications, Electronics, Aerospace, Computer Science, );
• Be able to fluently communicate in English in a professional setting (min. C1 level both spoken and written);
• Be proficient in the production of graphs and tables, through booth the use of spreadsheets and more complex scripting to perform calculations and automate the processing of large volumes of data;
• Be able to work and communicate in an international and multicultural environment;
• Have the flexibility to work outside normal working hours (e.g. to support services or to respond to incidents);
• Be capable of dealing with multiple simultaneous requests without being overwhelmed;
• Be able to remain professional under pressure.

Desirable skills:

• Radio Frequency (RF), in particular as related to telecommunications (i.e. basic concepts and fundamentals, as well as practical knowledge of common RF components, test equipment, and engineering practices);
• Industrial Automation (Safety practices and requirements, electrical installations, electronics & control systems, pneumatics, and hydraulics);
• IT Systems Administration, in particular Unix environments (including shell scripting), cybersecurity and IP networking;
• Scripting languages, in particular Python.
