Job Description
Job Title: Server & Storage Engineer
Location: Remote-first (occasional on-site visits required, UK-based only)
Contract Type:Contract Inside IR35
Duration:3 month initial

Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Server & Storage Engineer to deliver implementation, configuration, and upgrade services across enterprise server and storage platforms. The role will focus on supporting large-scale infrastructure initiatives, ensuring resilient and high-performing environments built on Dell technologies, VMware, and Nutanix. This is a remote-first position with occasional site attendance, and requires candidates to be UK-based.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement, configure, and upgrade Dell enterprise server and storage solutions, including PowerScale, PowerStore, VxRail, and Isilon.
  • Deploy, configure, and optimize VMware vSphere environments (VCP certification desirable).
  • Support Nutanix hyperconverged solutions, including AHV configuration and lifecycle management.
  • Deliver technical input into infrastructure projects, ensuring solutions are aligned with business and architectural requirements.
  • Conduct performance analysis, troubleshooting, and remediation for server and storage platforms.
  • Collaborate with architects, project managers, and other engineers on solution design and delivery.
  • Produce high-quality documentation for designs, implementations, and operational procedures.
  • Provide occasional out-of-hours support during upgrades and migrations where required.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Strong expertise with Dell server/storage platforms (PowerScale, PowerStore, VxRail, Isilon).
  • Proven experience with VMware vSphere environments (ideally VCP-certified).
  • Hands-on knowledge of Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure (AHV and related toolsets).
  • Solid background in implementation, configuration, upgrades, and lifecycle management (not rack/stack).
  • Strong troubleshooting and performance optimization skills.
  • Ability to engage confidently with technical teams, stakeholders, and third-party vendors.
  • Must be UK-based and able to travel occasionally for on-site work.
Desirable:
  • Exposure to automation/scripting for infrastructure management.
  • Experience in delivering enterprise-scale migrations and upgrades.
  • Knowledge of hybrid cloud or cloud-integrated storage solutions.
