Senior Electronics Engineer

Location: RG7 4PR, located between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking.

Due to the classified nature of the work involved, there are limited opportunities to work from home in this role. The successful candidate will spend the majority of their time working on site at AWE Aldermaston.

Package: £49,480 - £65,000 per annum (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience).

A relocation package may be available (terms and conditions apply).

Working pattern: AWE operates a 9-day working fortnight. We will consider flexible working requests so that your work may fit in with your lifestyle. Just let us know your preferred working pattern on your application.

AWE has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced Senior Electronics Engineer, who is keen to apply and develop their skills and knowledge.

You will be working within a team of experienced engineers supporting the delivery, assessment, and testing of warhead electrical/electronic systems and components.

The main purpose of this role is to provide electronic engineering expertise to the Warhead Engineering sub-function, in support of AWE programmes. You will apply engineering methods, tools and processes to complex warhead

engineering tasks and provide guidance and mentoring to inexperienced engineers about the practical use of engineering methods, tools and processes.

Within the role, responsibilities include:

Assessment of new designs for suitability for service use.

Qualification of new components.

Test and assessment of components and systems as part of an ongoing surveillance programme.

Specification of trials and surveillance activities.

Engaging with US counterparts on surveillance and test activities.

There may be the opportunity for occasional overseas travel.

Who are we looking for?

We do need you to have the following:

A degree qualification (or equivalent, e.g. HND supported by extensive practical experience) in electrical/electronic engineering, followed by relevant experience.

Experience in the designing, testing, and fault-finding of electrical/electronic circuits, with the ability to analyse and assess existing designs.

Knowledge of the application of electronics to defence systems.

Design systems and components that meet needs and requirements.

Proven track record of delivery, performance and continuous improvement.

You'll need to have the ability to work calmly and constructively in a priority changing environment and be able to manage your own workload. You will also have initiative, enthusiasm, a flexible approach, and ability to work to tight deadlines.
