A little more about your roleWe are seeking a Senior Transport Planner to join our Transport & Mobility Planning team in Ireland. This role can be based from either WSP's Dublin or Naas offices, with hybrid working allowing for a mix of in-office and home working.
As a Senior Transport Planner you will support on a range of transport projects across the WSP business with the potential to lead on Irish transport planning projects. You will work across modes to develop transport strategies, active travel infrastructure schemes, business cases etc. and support the development of transport programmes and projects from inception through to completion. This is a varied role, with responsibilities including:
- Supporting the senior management team on a variety of Transport Planning projects and proposals (both technical and commercial inputs) leading on project tasks and outputs.
- Working as part of multi-disciplinary teams, working with our other WSP service lines to deliver large multi-disciplinary projects from concept to delivery.
- Supporting the senior management team in the development of proposals.
- Working with UK transport and mobility colleagues to deliver transport planning projects across the UK.
- Making an active contribution to WSP's four key pillars (People; Clients & Growth; Operations; and Expertise).
You will have an opportunity to work collaboratively with our Net Zero, Future Mobility and Freight growth areas on a range of innovative strategies for our public sector clients, as well as our extensive range of expertise practice groups, including Public Transport, Active Travel and Transport Communications.
Your TeamWe undertake a wide range of transport planning technical work for our clients across Ireland and the UK, as well as having an extensive portfolio of multi-disciplinary and cross-sector services, including active travel solutions; public transport network planning; scheme development and appraisal and business case development.
Our clients include Local Authorities and National Government Organisations. This provides our staff with the opportunity to work in a range of roles, across multiple disciplines, and realise their career aspirations, whatever they may be.
The Ireland transport and mobility team is a new discipline within WSP Ireland therefore, it is an exciting opportunity for ambitious transport planners to join the team to support the company's growth within Ireland.
There will be opportunities to not only undertake technical work but to develop and build skills in client engagement and sales.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate- Experience in active travel including the delivery of NTA PAG Phase 2-4 schemes
- Experience of developing transport focused strategies, plans and policies including experience of delivering transport plans through the ABTA process.
- Experience of other transport planning fields include business case development, transport assessments, scheme feasibility, concept design etc/.
- Experience of working with Local Authority clients or willingness to develop such experience.
- Experience or willingness to develop client and sales skills including bid writing, client engagement and attendance at local sales events.
- The ability to manage and prioritise multiple projects and tasks to meet deadlines.
- Ability to successfully deliver presentations and liaise with a variety of audiences - including colleagues, public sector officials, members of the public and other key project stakeholders.
- Experience or willingness to learn commercial skills including undertaking the role of Project Manager/Assistant Project Manager
- Ability to manage tasks and support wider team management in leading more junior members of the team.
- Working towards Chartered status or other relevant professional qualification e.g. Engineers Ireland, CIHT, TPP, CEng etc
