Major Recruitment is working alongside a food manufacturer based in Rotterdam, we are looking to speak with candidates for a Senior Trader opening

As a Senior Trader, you will be responsible for global sourcing and organic and sustainable agri-food product sales. This role will actively manage procurement and trading activities across all continents, ensuring profitability, quality, and long-term business partnerships.

Key Responsibilities of a Senior Trader

Trading & Sales:

• Develop and execute strategic trading plans to grow sales and profitability.
• Source organic raw materials and finished goods from global suppliers.
• Sell organic food products to international buyers.
• Manage pricing, contract negotiations, and payment terms with buyers and suppliers.
• Track market trends, competitor activity, and pricing developments to ensure competitive positioning.

Sourcing & Supplier Management:

• Identify and onboard new suppliers, including cooperatives, aggregators, and processors globally.
• Ensure all sourced material complies with organic certification, sustainability standards, and customer requirements.
• Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure consistent quality, timely deliveries, and long-term collaboration.
• Customer Relationship Management:
• Build and maintain relationships with customers, key accounts, and partners.
• Provide exceptional service, respond to inquiries, and resolve complaints professionally.
• Attend international trade fairs, exhibitions, and client visits to promote NBF's portfolio.

Documentation & Compliance:

• Ensure timely documentation for imports and exports, including contracts, shipping documents, organic and food safety certificates.
• Coordinate with logistics, quality, and finance teams to ensure smooth end-to-end transactions.
• Stay updated with regulations on international trade, organic standards, and sustainability requirements

Skills required to be a successful Senior Trader

• Bachelor's or master's degree in international business, Agriculture, Food Science, or related field.
• Previous experience in international trading of food/Agri commodities
• Proven track record of sourcing and selling across multiple geographies
• Strong understanding of international trade, supply chain, and organic certification systems.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Analytical and detail-oriented with a commercial mindset.
• Proficient in using trading tools, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Fluent in English; additional languages like Dutch, Spanish, French, or German are a plus
