Senior Technology Manager - Utilities

We are hiring for a leading organisation within the Energy & Utilities sector is seeking an experienced Senior Technology Manager to provide technical leadership across the development and delivery of major power generation and dispatchable energy projects.
The successful candidate will act as a Subject Matter Expert for power generation technology, with a primary focus on gas turbines and thermal/dispatchable generation, supporting projects from initial technology assessment and feasibility through procurement, engineering, construction, commissioning and commercial operation.
This is a senior technical and commercial position requiring strong knowledge of gas turbine technology, major energy infrastructure projects, EPC/procurement contracts and the Irish electricity market.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the development and implementation of the Power Generation Technology Strategy, including technology selection, procurement, operations and maintenance considerations.
- Act as a technical SME for gas turbine and dispatchable generation technologies, evaluating market developments, OEM solutions and emerging technologies.
- Provide specialist technical expertise during the procurement of power generation technology, working directly with OEMs, technology providers, investors and technical/commercial advisers.
- Lead major energy infrastructure projects through feasibility, development, FID, engineering, construction, commissioning, performance testing and COD.
- Develop technical specifications and manage the procurement of major equipment, engineering services and associated project contracts.
- Lead engagement and negotiations with key suppliers and contractors, ensuring appropriate technical specifications, contractual protections and commercial terms.
- Manage project performance against programme, budget, scope, technical requirements and contractual obligations.
- Support technical and commercial due diligence activities associated with major investments and project development.
- Represent the organisation's technical and commercial interests within Joint Venture project structures.
- Work closely with commercial, engineering, development and senior leadership teams on business cases and technology selection for future energy infrastructure projects.
- Ensure projects comply with relevant Irish construction standards, Grid Code requirements, H&S requirements and EU/Irish procurement legislation.
- 7-10+ years' relevant senior-level experience within power generation, energy infrastructure or a closely related sector.
- Strong technical knowledge of dispatchable power generation technologies, ideally gas turbines / CCGT / OCGT, with BESS experience also valuable.
- Demonstrable experience delivering large-scale energy infrastructure projects through FID and COD.
- Experience across the project lifecycle including feasibility, technology selection, procurement, engineering, construction, commissioning and performance testing.
- Strong knowledge of gas turbine OEMs, EPC contractors and power generation technology markets.
- Excellent commercial contract negotiation and supplier management experience.
- Understanding of Irish construction standards, electricity markets, Grid Code and grid connection requirements.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams, with JV experience highly advantageous.
- Honours Degree in Engineering (NFQ Level 8 or equivalent).
- Project Management qualification such as PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent would be advantageous.
- Strong MS Project, Excel, Word, reporting and stakeholder-management capability.
Must have experience in this field, a valid working visa, and be able to travel on-site on a hybrid basis to be considered
