In a Nutshell
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Technical Manager to join our team within Vistry Services Special Projects, based at our Brentwood office. You'll take a proactive role in design development, advising on industry changes, and identifying risks and opportunities to support the wider departmental strategy.
The Special Projects team was created to investigate and remediate fire safety issues in buildings over 11 metres developed by the Group over the past 30 years. The role also involves managing claims related to fire safety under the Defective Premises Act, Building Safety Act 2022, and contractual liabilities - all aimed at ensuring resident safety and upholding the Group's long-term commitments.

What we expect from you

- BTEC HND/HNC in Design, Construction, or Civil Engineering
- Extensive experience working within a technical role at a residential house builder
- Good IT literacy, with experience of AutoCAD, Revit, Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Proven ability in a Senior Technical Manager role assessing technical aspects for land opportunities and delivering projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards, with high customer satisfaction
- Excellent organization and time management skills, with the ability to multitask

Desirable qualifications and skills include further education such as CIOB, Principle Designer and Health & Safety training, CSCS card, proficiency with Viewpoint, AutoCAD, management of technical fees, ongoing professional development, and experience in managing and developing people.

- Manage multiple sites from design to post-completion, aligned with project schedules
- Undertake Principal Designer role as per Construction Design & Management Regulations 2015
- Coordinate delivery of surveys, reports, and design approvals
- Manage consultant fee proposals and appointments
- Coordinate civil engineering designs and related drawings
- Undertake value engineering and ensure buildability
- Coordinate submissions for legal and technical approvals
- Manage utility designs and legal agreements
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and landscape architects to ensure design consistency
- Prepare drawings and documents for tender, construction, and sales handover
- Coordinate with local authorities and manage legal agreements for street naming and other approvals
- Assist with land acquisition, planning conditions, and development fees
- Resolve technical queries through site visits and meetings
- Attend departmental and pre-development meetings
- Ensure all stakeholders are informed and involved
- Fulfill key aspects of the Principal Designer role
- Implement SHE policies and legal requirements
