Senior Technical Co-ordinator

The Design and Technical teams are involved in all aspects of housing design and innovation, researching the best materials at the best cost. The team addresses the variety of sites, many using existing buildings, with unique problems to solve. The focus includes new materials, sustainability and value, within evolving building and environmental legislation. Most team members have an architectural or engineering background, with opportunities to gain expertise in design and project management in a thought-provoking setting.
Reporting to the Technical Manager, the role ensures information is available to the Construction Team and other Departments to suit the project programme. It involves liaising with and advising other Departments on technical and interface matters, providing back-up and information flow, and coordinating all technical information on projects from inception to completion.
Responsibilities- Brief, manage and drive external consultants in the preparation and issue of production information to an agreed programme, fee and scope.
- Prepare technical specifications in line with requirements determined by the Land Acquisition budget and Technical/Sales Meetings.
- Prepare and monitor the Design Programme and present it at the Progression Meetings.
- Ensure all statutory enquiries, crossovers, sewer connections and other legal agreements are submitted and pursued for timely completion.
- Oversee the NHBC/Building Regulations applications to approval.
- Ensure working drawings are in accordance with the approved Planning Scheme and discharge of planning conditions.
- Monitor and control all production information in close liaison with the Commercial Department to maintain tight cost controls and align information with budget estimates.
- Monitor and control the Professional Fees budget and update fee reports on a monthly basis for incorporation into valuation meetings.
- Ensure that the Group Policy and Procedures are fully managed and controlled.
- Oversee preparation and approval of Brochure Plans, Conveyance Plans and Sales Area drawings.
- Attend site progress meetings and carry out site inspections.
- Attend meetings at various project stages (Land/Technical hand-over, Project Meeting, Optimisation, Progression, Technical/Sales, Budget Meetings, etc.).
- Coordinate general liaison and coordination between internal and external parties.
- Attend Subcontractor interviews and meetings where appropriate.
- Respond to site queries and resolve Technical/Construction problems.
- Issue drawings and information for construction purposes.
- Qualified as a Civil/Building Engineer or hold a construction-related degree level or HNC/HND in a built environment subject with relevant experience.
- Working knowledge of house and apartment construction, Building Regulations, NHBC, Party Wall Awards and related legislation.
- Strong communication, meeting and management skills essential for dealing with multi-disciplined teams.
- Ability to recognise problems and address them quickly and effectively.
- Ability to set tasks and manage others; able to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
- Desire to exceed customer expectations; excellent communicator with high attention to detail.
- Competent IT skills including using AutoCAD/Revit.
