Senior Systems Design Engineer - Power Station

Location: Hybrid working with one of the following locations as primary: Derby, Manchester or Warrington

We are now recruiting for the role of Senior Systems Design Engineer, to be involved in industry-leading, cutting-edge design projects for a new type of power station.

The Senior Systems Design Engineer will define plant-level design solutions for the RR SMR power station through the integration of functional design and design optioneering as part of the Power Station Integration team.

The Senior Systems Design Engineer will collaborate with subject matter experts and discipline design teams to integrate solutions across the power station, ensuring requirements are flowed down to lower-tier systems to meet overall power station requirements and deliver an effective product.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Own and independently manage the design of Power Station Capabilities (features) and oversee the performance and attributes of the power station related to these, such as net power output, availability, and product cost.
2. Apply experience and systems engineering techniques, including optioneering, to deliver power station design solutions that meet product requirements.
3. Use design optioneering to develop and optimize power station design solutions.
4. Ensure requirements are effectively flowed down to lower-tier systems to meet overarching power station attributes and objectives.
5. Elicit capability requirements.
6. Coordinate across multi-disciplinary design teams to develop the capability design.
7. Deliver plant-level solutions that meet key attributes.
8. Flow requirements down to lower-tier systems to enable component and system design.
