The Role The British Business Bank (BBB) is the UK government's development bank dedicated to making finance markets work better for smaller businesses. The Banking Products team of the BBB originates, structures and manages cash and risk transfer transactions of SME finance portfolios. The team executes transactions with SME lenders such as banks and non-bank financial institutions and seeks to address funding, security and capital constraints these entities may face that prevent them from increasing their credit activity in the small business sector. Within the Banking Products team, the Cash Securitisation & Analytics team focuses on cash transactions and manages the ENABLE Funding programmes.
The purpose of a Senior Structurer ENABLE Funding is to successfully execute originated ENABLE Funding transactions (cash securitisation warehouses and refinancing of those warehouse transactions in the capital markets) within the scope of the business plan and in line with the BBB's objectives and values. The Senior Structurer will refer to the responsible ENABLE Funding Director for issues which are non-standard, commercially sensitive or require further product development, but otherwise will execute transactions independently. The Senior Structurer also originates new transactions in conjunction with the Banking Origination & Relationship Management team providing product specific specialism and is a "go to" expert for ENABLE Funding for both internal and external stakeholders. The role may also require helping to develop and, in some cases, directly manage more junior colleagues within the Banking Products team.
To be considered for this role you must have extensive experience in securitisation or equivalent capital markets roles with proven experience in the credit analysis of granular securitisation transactions or CLOs.
You will have strong analytical and financial modelling skills, including cash flow modelling and granular data analysis with excellent problem-solving skills and an ability to think creatively about transaction features and risk mitigation.
You will also have a thorough understanding of different securitisation and/or guarantee techniques, structures and markets with an excellent knowledge of most regulatory aspects of cash securitisation products and be proficient in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
An understanding of the European State Aid rules and/or the UK Subsidy Control Regime vis-à-vis government capital markets schemes and experience working on SME securitisation transactions would be highly desirable.
Proven experience in marketing and/or independently executing securitisation transactions either in a deal team or independently, ideally in SME securitisations would also be a distinct advantage.
