Job Description

We are seeking an Enterprise Solution Architect to join our Digital, Data & Technology Department (DDaT). This role is crucial for our digital transformation journey, focusing on transforming technology service delivery and fostering strong partnerships across departments. As a Solution Architect, you will be a subject matter expert, providing technical leadership and ensuring that our technology solutions are aligned with architectural standards and support the academic and professional services functions.

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to teams across DDaT, championing architectural standards and stewarding them through approval and adoption.
  • Collaborate with university departments to align technical solutions with business goals, advocating strategic focus on good architecture.
  • Lead the design and architecture of complex technical solutions, ensuring scalability, security, efficiency, and sustainability.
  • Integrate solutions to support business processes and data availability, adhering to best practice architectural approaches.
  • Ensure technical solutions adhere to security best practices and relevant regulations.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, evaluate their applicability, and drive adoption of relevant, modern cloud-based services.
  • Create and maintain detailed architectural documentation and manage potential risks within the technical estate.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Solution Architect within a complex organisational structure, preferably in higher education or a similar sector.
  • Strong technical leadership skills with the ability to develop and champion architectural standards.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in business-friendly language.
  • Experience with system integration and a wide-ranging technology stack including SaaS, PaaS, and custom-developed solutions.
  • Knowledge of security and compliance best practices.
  • Familiarity with data management principles and collaboration with Data Architects.
  • Ability to evaluate and innovate with emerging technologies.
  • Experience in creating detailed architectural documentation.
