About the Team

This role forms part of the technology function within a leading global insurance group, currently undertaking a large-scale digital transformation. The team is responsible for delivering integrated platforms across core insurance processes, including submissions, rating, underwriting, policy administration, and claims. In addition, there's a growing focus on enhanced data analytics and business intelligence. To support this, the group is expanding its engineering capacity to ensure high-quality system delivery and stronger alignment with business goals.

Role Purpose

We are supporting our client in the search for a Senior Engineer to join their technology team. You will play a key role in delivering digital solutions that support critical business functions within the insurance domain. This is a hands-on engineering role with the added responsibility of guiding and mentoring a team, promoting technical excellence, and ensuring the successful delivery of digital initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance and leadership to developers, helping ensure timely, high-quality delivery across projects.
• Lead the full engineering lifecycle - from design and development through to testing, release, and support.
• Act as a technical specialist for a portfolio of digital applications, influencing architecture and delivery approach.
• Develop scalable, high-performance solutions using best practices in engineering and software development.
• Work closely with product managers, designers, and cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and solutions.
• Encourage collaboration, continuous learning, and open communication within the team.
• Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and engineering methodologies, and introduce relevant improvements.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, security, and industry standards.
• Support performance reviews and help align team growth with strategic business priorities.

What We're Looking For

• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or a related field (Bachelor's or Master's level).
• 8+ years of experience delivering digital applications (B2B, B2C, or web-based), ideally in complex environments.
• Strong experience in at least one of the following: Mendix, C#, or Java - including work with APIs and web services.
• Strong knowledge of modern engineering principles and delivery practices.
• Problem-solver with strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively.
• A proactive mindset, committed to maintaining high standards of delivery and professionalism.
• Fluent Spanish and English, both spoken and written.
• Familiarity with tools such as Jira for tracking and collaboration.
