We are a well-funded, early-stage startup on a mission to guide the world's money. Data is at the core of our platform, from ingesting financial data, augmenting data through ML & GenAI, to exposing core datasets for financial decision-making. We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer, Data to help build out our data capabilities.

About

At Palm, data is the foundation of everything we do. We re building a sophisticated application that helps enterprises make smarter financial decisions. You will build data foundations that power embedded analytics dashboards, a ML-powered forecasting engine, and GenAI capabilities. This role is your chance to architect and build our data platform to scale from a challenger to a leader in enterprise treasury.

This role focuses on building the future of our data infrastructure. You ll work with our leadership team to define data strategy, establish best practices, and create the foundation for our data-driven products.

Responsibilities

• Build and manage our data platform infrastructure through infrastructure as code and support other engineers in their data & infra needs.
• Design foundations for scalable data pipelines using tools like Airflow, Pub/Sub and Cloud Run on GCP.
• Set up and manage data integrations using tools like Airbyte, dltHub to power data source integrations.
• Build-out and scale our data warehouse in BigQuery, underpinning analytics and ML use cases.
• Establish engineering best practices including version control, CI/CD, testing, and reusable frameworks.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a software or data engineering role with strong data infrastructure affinity.
• Proficiency in Python and deep knowledge of parts of a batch-oriented data stack (Orchestration: Airflow/Dagster/Temporal; Data processing: Polars/Spark/DuckDB; Data ingestion: Airbyte/Fivetran/dltHub; Data warehousing: BigQuery/ClickHouse/Snowflake).
• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP preferred), infrastructure as code, and cloud cost optimization.
• Track record of building data infrastructure serving analytics, ML and GenAI use cases.
• Startup mindset with ability to operate in ambiguity and work both independently and collaboratively.

Nice-to-haves

• Domain knowledge in fintech, financial data, or banking systems.
• Experience in an infrastructure or DevEx role (Data Platform Engineer, DevEx Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer).
• Go programming language experience.
• Experience as a founding or early engineer at a startup.
• Knowledge of event-driven architectures and real-time data processing.
• Contributions to open-source data tools or communities.
