Senior Software Engineer - CI Platform About the Role

The CI Platform team is looking for engineers to help design, develop and scale Uber's CI systems and associated tools to solve unique build, code and dependency management challenges. You will help delight our engineering teams and enable the entire organization to iterate rapidly. Responsibilities

• Partner with fellow engineers to innovate, architect, develop, and scale Uber's CI Platform
• Provide initiative and technical leadership to build reliable, high-quality solutions that scale with Uber's engineering processes
• Deliver and review technical design, code, and documentation
• Drive ongoing reliability and engineering excellence improvements through design and automation: availability, performance, security, scaling, monitoring, and capacity management
• Manage upstream and downstream dependencies, collaborate with other engineering teams, and ensure the CI system is highly observable, reliable, and cost-effective
• Support fellow teammates

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience
• Fluency in Java, Go, Python, or C++
• Strong backend experience in building developer infrastructure / developer experience, ideally with experience in GCP/OCI Kubernetes (K8)
• Rich experience in building and maintaining developer-facing systems, tools, or platforms - Continuous Integration (CI), Build, Test
• Linux system knowledge
• Experience with provisioning and managing FlowSwiss, GCP, or other cloud infrastructures
• Sound understanding of fundamentals and principles of distributed systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in developer tooling or developer productivity spaces
• Experience with iOS development and iOS CI systems
• Experience with tools like Buildkite, Buildbarn & Bazel
• Experience with RBC/RBE (Remote Build Cache & Remote Build Execution)
• Experience using metrics to measure and improve developer experience
• Experience working with teams spanning geographic locations and time zones
