Senior Software Architect - Remote

Our new client is a leading force in their commercial space. They are looking for an experienced Software Architect who has a background in the WMS space, ideally creating automated systems from the ground up.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Architect to lead a team of software engineers and take technical responsibility for the design, development, testing and integration of software solutions within complex customer projects.

This is a hands-on leadership role, combining technical design, team leadership, software development and project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and develop a team of Software Engineers.
• Take overall technical responsibility for software design and development across projects.
• Define software architecture, design concepts and detailed technical specifications.
• Plan and allocate development tasks, supporting engineers with technical solutions.
• Contribute to software development using C++, C and Java.
• Monitor development progress, budgets, risks and changes in scope.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Controls, Support and Solutions teams.
• Lead functional testing, quality reviews and technical assurance.
• Support software deployment and provide early-life support at customer sites.
• Manage the investigation and resolution of software issues and project-related faults.
• Build effective technical relationships with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Essential Experience

• Proven experience in software development and technical leadership.
• Strong C++ development experience.
• Experience leading or mentoring software engineers.
• Experience with software design, development planning, testing and integration.
• Strong problem-solving and technical decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Relevant industry experience is essential.

Desirable

• Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant technical discipline.
• SQL knowledge and experience.
• Experience working within complex engineering, automation or systems integration projects.
• Experience supporting software through implementation and live-site deployment.
