Job Title: Senior Site Reliability Engineer
Location: Hybrid - Southampton or Sutton - 2 days a week in the office
Salary/Rate: Up to £560 inside IR35
Start Date: November 2025
Job Type: 6-month contract

Company Introduction

We are looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join our client, a global analytics organisation.

Job Responsibilities/Objectives

• Working as part of a cross-functional team to best implement internal applications
• Diagnose complex system performance problems
• Work closely within cross-functional teams to refine system monitoring and reporting
• Identify and implement best practices by collaborating with other SREs and SRE teams
• Understand Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and its implementation methods.
• Identify and implement architectural best practices by collaborating with multiple teams and software engineers
• Diagnose complex system problems using dumps, traces, or other diagnostics aids.
• Manage and encourage new ideas from staff to foster improvements and innovation

Required Skills/Experience

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, math or equivalent experience.
• In depth technical knowledge of Linux
• Good understanding of at least one high-level programming language ie Python
• In depth knowledge of one or more database systems such as Postgres, SQL Server
• Experience in designing, building, and maintaining high performance, highly available, production hosting environments, preferably using AWS (VPCs, security groups, RDS, S3, EC2, ECS, EKS)
• Understanding of security engineering and security best practices
• Good knowledge of at least one high-level Scripting language, such as bash
• Advanced knowledge of configuration management tools, such as Puppet, etc.
• Advanced knowledge of best practices and tooling for Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment
• Git
• Containerisation (Docker) on Linux
• Advanced knowledge of at least one IaC tool such as Terraform, Cloudformation, Ansible
• A love of monitoring and experience in tooling such as Grafana, Elastic, StatusCake, PagerDuty
• Strong skills in achieving business objectives and goals

Desirable Skills/Experience

• Agile delivery
• Thorough understanding of major system components used in completing assigned tasks (ie Linux, Networking, Storage or Databases).
• Knowledge of security tooling and security best practice
• Ability to clearly explain (written, and orally) technical issues to a non-technical audience
• Ability to administer scalable, cloud-native applications
