Job Overview

The Senior SharePoint & Power Apps Developer will act as the organisation's lead expert for SharePoint (SharePoint 2019, SharePoint Online), Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate), Microsoft Teams, and wider M365 ecosystem capabilities.

This role blends enterprise-level solution architecture, hands-on development, migration expertise, Power Platform solution delivery, and Agile execution, operating as a senior technical authority across design, governance, development, automation, and service operations.

The successful candidate will lead the end-to-end delivery of SharePoint and Power Platform solutions, drive best practice across Agile and ITSM frameworks, collaborate closely with business stakeholders, and guide junior developers through mentoring, standards, and architectural governance.

Key Responsibilities

SharePoint Architecture, Development & Administration

  • Act as subject matter expert for SharePoint Online and SharePoint 2019, owning architecture, design, development, deployment, and administration.
  • Lead development of SPFx client-side solutions (React, Angular, Vue.js) and integrate with Graph API, Microsoft Search, Teams, and other M365 services.
  • Design and extend SharePoint Online environments (site collections, hub sites, permission models, governance policies, lifecycle/retention).
  • Plan and execute on-premises to cloud migrations, including roadmaps, cut-over planning, risk mitigation, integrity validation, and post-migration support.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation including architecture diagrams, runbooks, governance documentation, and service guides.

Power Platform & Automation

  • Lead design, development, and governance of Power Apps and Power Automate workflows.
  • Build enterprise-grade solutions that automate service catalogues, incident/change workflows, and complex business processes.
  • Ensure adherence to Power Platform governance, DLP policies, environment strategy, solution lifecycle management, and security controls.

Agile Delivery & Technical Leadership

  • Lead Agile ceremonies: backlog refinement, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives.
  • Translate business requirements into user stories with clear acceptance criteria, prioritised backlogs, and credible estimates (estimate/remaining/actual in hours).
  • Ensure solutions meet Definition of Done, quality standards, and architectural governance.
  • Take end-to-end accountability for sprint deliverables, issue resolution, and technical blockers.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to developers and cross-functional teams.

Governance, Security & Compliance

  • Define and maintain SharePoint and M365 governance frameworks, covering configuration, permissions, lifecycle management, security posture, and documentation.
  • Ensure alignment with MIP, DLP, Conditional Access, Entra ID, retention labels, and organisational security standards.
  • Collaborate with ITSM/MSP teams to embed SharePoint into operational support models (incident, change, problem, and service level management).
  • Conduct permissions reviews, compliance audits, configuration assessments, and enforce policy adherence.

Service Management & Operational Excellence

  • Apply ITIL-aligned processes within operational workflows, ensuring service performance, documentation accuracy, and incident/change governance.
  • Integrate SharePoint and Power Platform solutions with monitoring, alerting, SIEM tools, and automated remediation.
  • Prepare quarterly service reports, performance summaries, and continuous improvement recommendations.
  • Support user adoption via workshops, demos, and end-user enablement activities.

Stakeholder Engagement & Strategic Contribution

  • Work consultatively with business units to elicit detailed requirements and translate them into sound technical designs.
  • Provide strategic input into the M365 roadmap, SharePoint strategy, governance evolution, and security enhancement initiatives.
  • Stay up to date on the Microsoft 365 roadmap, Champions Programme updates, and emerging technologies to drive innovation.
